UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

HOW TO APPLY

1. You need to submit an application to the university between 7 February – 4 July 2022

2. You need to fill out a Music Department pre-registration form to schedule an entrance examination/audition. You may fill this form before or after you complete the university application.
The pre-registration form will be available on June 8th through 17th. The link will be announced on this page.

3. You need to pay a non-refundable application fee of 480 TL. (Application fee can be paid by a credit card at https://stars.bilkent.edu.tr/basvuru/ during the pre-registration period (8-17 June)

Note: Please make sure that you select “Department of Music Aptitude Exam” when making your payment.

4. You need to take an in person exam and audition at the department building between June 27th and 30th. If you have travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, please contact mssf@bilkent.edu.tr

THEORY/MUSICIANSHIP EXAM

All candidates need to take an entrance examination on music theory and musicianship skills. You can find a sample exam below:

AUDITIONS

During the voice and instrument auditions, students are required to perform the program they prepared before an exam jury. If requested, the school will provide an accompanist for all instrument and voice candidates. In this case, candidates must send their piano parts during pre-registration. Candidates can also provide their own accompanists if they prefer. You can access the program requirements for each instruments below.

Voice

Two memorized contrasting pieces from the standard classical repertoire performed in the original language. Applicants may also submit an optional musical theater selection. 

Wind Instruments (Woodwinds and Brass)

There is no memorization requirement for wind instruments

During the piano audition, students are also asked to sight-read a musical passage.

The composition exam consists of three stages.

1. General music theory and musicianship exam
2. Music Analysis
3. Interview
